Hey there. My daughter spoke to you back in October about making a dress based on your Legion drawing (MercerHitsuji). Well, we finished it! We started with your design and added our own cosplay touch to it. Where you had a bow at her waist, we added a hole (like Legion has) with lights and wires, added a glowing orb to the neck piece (to simulate his "eye") added some tubes around the waist and a glowing spine up the back! Thanks so much for the inspiration! It really helped us create a unique and comfortable cosplay for my daughter to wear at cons :)
These pictures aren't the greatest (it was so cold outside!) but we plan to take some better ones next month when we are at C2E2.
Thanks again!!
-Wendy

These are beautiful! Mordin's is my favorite. I would totally wear any of these really. ;) And if I had more time, I'd want to make a Mordin dress for myself~

Miranda's is really beautiful but I don't know if I get the same character vibe from it as the others. But they're all really well done!

I love all of them except Miranda's. The dress itself is beautiful, but I dont feel like it reflects the character much, but maybe that's not the point.
Also, Tali's looks like a great start, but I think you could have done a lot more with all of the amazing lines on Tali's suit. Like the high waistline thing (like in the Mordin dress) that Tali has, or the cross of fabric by her hips.
All of the others look fantastic (I WOULD BUY THE TIM ONE), but I feel like Tali's needs work, and Miranda's needs a bit more strength. But looking at it as if it were a line for competition, then I'd leave Miranda's because it has the best draping, and i think it balances out the other looks.

Mordin one is my fav! I wanna this dress xD But maybe you may add there high black collar, like a turtleneck? Or (better way) black velvet ribbon on the neck to be more like his main sides. Buttons is just like "not from here", Mordin's design - clear, with details, but not there. So maybe you don't even need his. The horizontal white line could be exactly twice as thick. To Upwards. It will be more noticeable and interesting and will fit good on the chest relief.

This is a really awesome idea. :D Since you asked for feedback, here's some thoughts:

* Samara: Everything down to the hips is dead on (love the choker). Not sure about the very bottom part, though - makes the whole thing feel more like something you'd see on an ice skater. The source material here is a very long, sleek silhouette. Maybe make the bottom part one of those slim, floor-length bits with the long slit down one side? Would help give it the femme fatale look, and might help it go well with pumps. :P

* Hanar: The back doesn't really mesh well with the rest of it (looks kind of like folded peacock feathers). Try keeping the same look as the front the whole way around, and maybe messing with cuts around the hemline to further the tentacle effect.

* Legion: This is absolutely bloody fantastic. "Hoses" around the hips, a huge flower where the hole is, asymmetrical arms... LOVE it. Really inspired stuff. The only thing I might do is tighten up the sleeve a tad, and try running the red stripe down the sleeve's side (if it doesn't look good, whatever, just a thought). Other than that, it's just perfect. You nailed this one. :)

* Eve: Another design translated *very* well into dress format. I wonder a bit about the silhouette around the legs, though. I know you're working with... larger source material (haha), but it still seems like it bulges a bit much around the thighs. As a personal touch, I'd consider adding three thin concentric gold necklaces to mirror the cord things Eve has over her eyes. Just a thought.

* TIM: No suggestions here. Pretty simple source design, and you translated it very well.

* Miranda: Love this one. Very elegant. Excellent work with the asymmetry. I wonder if the waist/hips should have a bit of black to mirror the belt, because the belt really does help to break up the wall of white in the original outfit. But the more I look at it, the less I can see a good way to integrate it (especially given the metal hoop securing the draping, which I wouldn't change at all). So maybe it's just fine as-is. As long as the shoes are black with heels it should come off looking good.

* Elcor: Now this one is... kind of awkward, really. The thing (not sure what it's called) at the hips just screams Shakespearean (although maybe that was an intentional Hamlet reference? :P). Honestly, Elcor fashion is really just blankets on the backs of elephants. There's probably a good way to salvage that as human fashion in some form or other. Probably some sort of winter look. I'm thinking thigh-high brown leather boots, long brown leather gloves, blue jacket with brown trim, one of those hoop-chain "belts," etc. But as an elegant dress... it's just not good source material to work from. If it were me, I would just ditch this one entirely.

* Mordin: Another excellent design. Silhouette and layering really captures the feel of the original. Three minor things come to mind: 1) The "points" at the front where the white of the dress ends swoop a little far forward - reminds me of EDI's hair more than a lab coat. Don't be afraid to let those corners taper off a little more bluntly. 2) I wonder how it would look with a slightly raised collar (dark grey, same color as the bottom) to mirror whatever that thing is that Mordin wears? Maybe terrible, but might be worth experimenting with. 3) The white buttons and red frill at the top look more like something you'd see on a light, flowing sundress. This is really the only point where the look explicitly falters - something inspired by Mordin should look very clean-cut with strong, well-defined lines, and this is the only place where that isn't entirely the case. Personally I think it would look better if you ditched both the buttons and frill and just left the whole red part clean (maybe one vertical seam right down the middle). On the whole, it's really a wonderful job - the details just need a little cleaning up.

* Tali: This one I think needs some adding of details to it. Tali's suits have a fairly simple silhouette, but the details (especially the layering) have always been quite intricate. This dress, on the other hand, is comparatively very simple; if it wasn't for the swirling pattern of the purple fabric, I'd have a really hard time telling that this was supposed to reference Tali at all. Some thoughts: Converge the purple fabric around bellybutton level, then make a couple angular cuts into it at the hips and fill those with the black fabric (look at Tali's ME2 suit, you'll see the kind of layout I'm talking about). Keep the hem as is re: the purple fabric, but ditch the light pink/mauve/whatever thing that's currently giving it a straighter edge; it'll look better just letting the purple fabric finish it with the sweep downwards at the sides. From there, I think it's just a matter of accessorizing. In particular, you should definitely add some kind of banding around the small of the waist, and maybe some kind of choker and/or other necklace(s).

* Thane: This is a very interesting one. I really like the two different colors of green making the hips look thinner, then flaring out with the black - mirrors the tight trenchcoat look without being a really direct reference (which wouldn't look very good as a dress :P). The one thing I wonder about is the neckstrap. I get that the red is supposed to mirror Thane's neck and cheeks, but it took me a while to figure that out because when I think of Thane's neck area, the first thing that comes to mind is that exaggerated popped collar of the trenchcoat (haha). So I think maybe the neckstrap should reference the actual neck a little more overtly. Try giving it multiple seams along the same direction as the cut (from front center, up and around) to mirror the "ridges" in the neck, and maybe raising the point of attachment to the dress just a bit higher up the chest.

You've got a good thing going here. I'll put in a watch - I'm interested to see where you can go with this. :)

Good luck!
